Hi,
I am trying to setup my dd's pc to have internet connectino through my new orange setup. I have got to the stage where it finds the wireless network but when i enter the WEP key and click connect it just connects on and off and says trying to find IP address does anyone know why it would do this?
Cheers

Hello
It sounds as though your DHCP server isn't working properly. What router are you connecting to?

I have the Orange Wireless setup, the box is called Inventel, and dd has a belkin usb device on her desk upstairs to pick uo the signal.0

Are you using the windoze wizard to connect or Bekin software? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I used the orange software on disk, but that didn't work so then i went into network connections and tried to 'repair' the connection but that didn't work either.0

Hi
You may have already tried this but I had a similar problem when initially setting up a wireless network.
Switch everything off - remove the power leads to the router, modem etc.
Turn on the modem and leave for a couple of minutes to set itself up again.
Turn on the router and leave for a minute or so.
Turn on the PC connected to the router and hopefully it should start working.
Hope this helps.0 -
Hi,
Thanks for that, my modem is my router,(i think/hope). My main base is downstairs and that is connected via an ethernet cable, altough i do not have an ethernet cable on dd's pc hence why i wanted a wireless connection, any more ideas

I don't think that you understood my question. It is not necessary to use any Orange software on the PC that you are trying to connect. To connect you can either use the Windoze wizard or Belkin software that you will have installed. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Those orange instructions are very confusing, they say paste the wep key into a wpa-psk box..
Can you see a new network appear on the PC with the wireless adapter, called wanadoo/orange etc..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
