Iphone 4 on Three (Any one had problems with MMS)

Got an iPhone 4 on Three about 2 months ago now.
At the time I didn't even think to look into my contract to see if I got any Picture Messages. I've set a limit of £0 on my contract so if I go over my allowance I can't use anything.

If I check my usage though it says I have '180 Picture Mail' left to use.

Now I'm guessing this is picture texts?
But I've tried for ages to send picture texts and it gets to about 90% then says failed. Does it every time.

I would understand if I didn't have any picture messages on my contract, because then there would be a charge for sending them and this wouldn't be allowed due to my £0 limit.

Anyone else had any problems sending MMS or know if Picture Mail is MMS?

I know early iphones didn't support mms, I have asked in another thread if they now do, but surprise surprise, no answer from any fanboy

iPhone 4 definatley does, so did the 3GS

The Picture mails included in your allowance are NOT mms's. This is why you cannot send them as you have set your allowance to £0 when the cost is 20p each. To send a picture mail you type in an email address instead of a Phone number on the text message screen. You then click send it will arrive at the email address you send it to. Be warned, it can take a while for the email to get through.

Oh great, thanks alot this has made it all clearer now!

Yet another triumph of basic technology omissions from the top "must have" gadget. Harold Hill must be rolling in it.

Nothing to do with the iPhone. MMS has been possible since the iPhone 3G (the second iteration of the phone) - omitted originally as MMS wasn't hugely popular in the US at the time. Picture mails are a quirk of 3 mobile, not the iPhone.

So, let me get this right: the 120 (or however many it is) "picture messages" that my wife gets as part of her contract with Three are pointless as pictures have to be sent as emails. Is that right?

Wouldn't deny it. I don't think there's a perfect phone out there. I suppose it just depends on which flaws you're prepared to live with

Pretty much, unless you're prepared to stump up the 20p per message that MMS costs. Contracts that include MMS are a rare beast these days.
