Taking soap powder on holiday!

photome........that is what I've normally done....but it isn't cheap over there, seems to be one of the things that costs more in the US than the UK.
Liquid detergent starts at under $5, about £3 in Walmart, that seems cheap enough to me, saves all the hassle of packing it in ur case with clothes0 -
I agree, I personally would buy liquid there as I find liquid better than powder for hand-washing. Its likely youll be into a supermarket soon enough when you get there, Id save my luggage allowance
.Saying that, usually I use shower gel
Nivea cashmere moments is good- plus a good gel if you happen to suffer sunburn IME!
Amazingly I found a large washing liquid for I euro in barcelona which was great- considering how much it costs here
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I usually take a couple of Bold washing powder tablets with us. They're small and light and they are wrapped in twos.
I just wash odd bits by hand if we run out of stuff or if one of the children spill something really messy and I think the stain might set if it's left till we get home. Here I go again on my own....0 -
I take Ariel washing tablets that are bought individually wrapped in foil, it's no biggie if they get damaged it's only washing powder. OR whatever is on special offer when I need more.
I'd not take liquid washing stuff. I take dishwasher tablets too... I find cleaning stuff is in bulk size packs and is also more expensive in the U.S.
their clothing might be cheap but cleaning it isn't!
In Florida because we had our own washer and dryer in the villa rather than using a hotel laundry room like we'd have in other places in the US, we just bought it over there, washing towels and extra towels for the pool etc. meant we got through most of the stuff we'd bought. Still took my own dishwasher tablets though:p
You'll probably be travelling light on the way there, so can afford to take your own washing things and leave them behind.
eta I usually take a pack of Tesco anti bacterial wipes too, 97p guarantees the surfaces are clean even if the place has no cleaning stuff available on arrival.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

we also bring a few tablets (wrapped in 2s) in a zippered plastic bag along with some dryer sheets. It's not really the money for me it's the convenience of knowing I have them and don't have to worry about forgetting to buy them or getting stuck with whatever they have in the machines at the laundry. One place I regularly go (in Vegas) does a 'free soap' thing even...but I can be sensitive to washing powders I don't know and would just rather bring what I'm used to.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

We took some powder with us and it burst open in the case. At that time our youngest was only 2 and the case was full of nappies...to make packing easier we had the nappies laid out along the bottom of the case so we had this powder and these white 'packets'....I dread to think what it would have looked like if anyone had seen in it lol0

buy your powder in wallmart when you get there, plenty to choose from0

I take tablets now, but 'before tablets' I used to fill one of those Chinese takeaway plastic boxes with Powder & take that.
If I used it all up (a frequent occurrence!) I'd wash & air the box & fill it up with all the sugar sachets etc to bring back home. :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0
