Door between house and conservatory - questions

Conservatory was inspected and approved with no door.
Inspect by who? Conservatories are exempt from the building regulations - if they fulfil certain criteria. If they fall under the regulations (eg by having less than 50% glazing, or less than 75% transparent/transclucent roof) then they fall under the full weight of the regulations.I am the Cat who walks alone0 -
where is the op building, conservatories are not exempt from regs in scotland, and ones that are in england and wales must have an external quality door seperating (be at ground level and less than 30sqm) to be exempt...This is a system account and does not represent a real person. this is an interesting thread. when we moved in here, i decided to revamp the current 'utility' room which runs alongside the house and has a door opening from the kitchen into it. when we moved in, it had a sort of tin roof, lots of leaks and wooden doors each end (street and back garden), plus an old double glazed door onto the kitchen. so we fitted new double glazed doors on all the doorways, plus a polycarbinate roof. we didnt seek buildings approval or regs or anything, does this sound alright? theres no heating in it, apart from a warm air blower and in the winter its freezing, but in the summer its nice and warm0

Sitting in their garden, not ours!0 -
Puddy - since you have a polycarb roof ( as long as it's transparent/translucent) you're on the way to having a conservatory. As long as there's more than 50% of the area of external walls glazed 9including the doors) then you're fine. Otherwise there might be a problem should you come to move house. But even then very few estate agents or solicitors understand the rule either.I am the Cat who walks alone0

i dont understand that. it has 3 external walls, one of which is the party wall to next doors own utility room, so obviously that isnt glazed. each end of the room has some wall but is mostly door and then the 4th wall is the wall which is the wall adjoining our house (it has a small window it in, looking into the hallway of our house)
why would this be a conservatory and why would this mean im 'fine', are you only allowed a poly carb roof with a conservatory?0
