TalkTalk broadband speed halved

  • Hi aurongrande,

We would need to investigate into this issue in more details for you.

There may be a number of changes we can make to resolve this issue.

IF your line is currently managed by DLM (dynamic line management) then the speed reduction may be due to an automatic change of your line profile, in an effort to improve stability.

We can look at this and make manual changes as necessary to overcome this issue or investigate as necessary.

I have been getting in touch with TalkTalk to try and solve this problem through various means, phone, email and post. No one at TalkTalk is interested in helping me. Also whenever I call on the phone, I end up talking to someone in another country who can't say half a sentence in English.

I tried to complain about my line speed on there forum. Basically I was told that the drop was acceptable (from 2.7mbps to last night less than 1mbps). End of conversation. No attempt to even change my profile.
Bloody waste of space that place.

  • for the internet now-a-days, less than 2Mbps is not suitable. I have websites stall on me, or time-out, or whatever. In other words, they don't load properly. When it comes to broadband, less than 2Mbps is the equivalent of the old dial-up speeds.

    HI aurongrande,

I have offered to help on this matter however we need to confirm security details, which we can only do via the TalkTalk Members forum.

If you join the forum we can look at the details of the account for you.

Whatajoke1 - In regards to your issue f there were no profile available to change to (i.e you are already on the fastest possible profile) then a profile change would do nothing but reduce the line speed. THe issue would need to be raised to the network for investigation.

    Regards

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago my speed went from 3.6mbps to 1.7mbps. My internet speed with tiscali/ talk talk had been 3.6mbps from when I first joined about 2 years ago and now for the past 2 weeks I have had my speed halved to 1.7mbps.

I sent talk talk support a email on the 29/11/2010 and they replied yesterday on the 14/12/2010 saying "we have escalated your case to our Technical Support Department."
