I discovered www.kayak.co.uk via the Sunday Times Travel Magazine and have recently used it to find flights to and around South Africa. A great search engine!

Opodo are great and pretty simple to add multiple layovers, (online) i did Scotland to Borneo last year with stops in Dubai and London.

    No problem at all.

  • I use Kayak.co.uk to check for the cheapest prices then usually will go direct to the airlines it suggests to finetune the trip. It has a multi-city function which you may find helpful.

I'd check out Tigerairways and Air asia as a couple of low cost options as well. If you have the time I'd probably go with a London - KL return with Air Asia, then a Melbourne - KL return. I looked into this last year (well London - KL then KL - Perth return) it knocked a couple of hundred pounds off.

Beware of tiger airlines. They are terrible for delays and missing connections.

We looked at Tiger Air for a domestic flight in Oz (Melbourne - Sydney). But after reading reviews decided to pay the extra for Jetstar as didn't want to risk it!

Most airlines will let you do stop-overs. You just need to find the ones that go to KL :)

Flown MANY times with TIGER AIRWAYS with no problems at all. Flown with Jetsar as well no problems. Tiger are a bit like Ryanair (The Ryan Family have shares in them or did, Ryan Asia have 5,5% of shares according to web-site) but last year I got to Singapore from India for 38 US cents return (with hand luggage) so who cares. I wouldn't trust ANY airline (budget or not) to get me anywhere on-time. If you are not checked right through leave a BIG gap or take the risk.

My parents have used them from Perth quite a few times and sing their praises (they havent had any probs and the flights are pretty cheap). Cant be any worse than Aer Lingus, Ryanair and the like as 'Bob the Saver' mentions above :)

If you are worried about delays I'd just try book it so you're not reliant on the connections. If you have a few days layover each time then you should be fine IF there are delays. If you're not using the same airline the whole way through to Australia this is what I would do anyway.

I have used Trailfinders several times and they have sorted everything out for me although I did use Singapore Airlines stopover programme which gave me a great deal on hotels etc.

I would gladly use them anytime.
