I have bought and sold on ebay. 2 parcels I've sent have gone missing and 1 thing I bought went missing.
It happens. I refund and claim back via RM myself. The buyer could be telling the truth. How would you feel if you have paid and had no parcel

I had a customer like yours this morning she opened a Paypal dispute item not received about an item she purchased on 19th sept and was posted 20th sept I was surprised they could open adispute so early i always reatin proof of posting .But the message in the dispute lead me to believe she already has the item,it looked like she misinterpreted or bought under the impression it was a mobile phone the picture was clear not of a phone and the description and title was crystal clear so she could not claim not as described.she wrote on the dispute ''if its not a mobile don't bother sending''.very suspicious!! How can she say that on an item not received dispute for an item she purchased for £3.00.If I had the item I would have sent her another one via special delivery just to get on her nerves.Instead I just ended up refunding her with a message that I know she has got the item but looked like she needed the money poor thing.
Beware there are too many freebie shoppers on ebay who do free shopping on paypal and target sellers with low value items which they know won't be worth sending via special delivery.(Trackable)

I would like to start a thread on the user ids who have done this in the past crawlbacks ,item not received scams, unauthorised transaction,it will save us all lot of hassle if we can just block those bidders.Experts here can advise us more on this .Paypal is not helping us and with Royal mail price increases we do not want to be scammed like this.

If you are sure they are scamming you (and you need to be sure obviously!) then just post them an empty envelope via Special Delivery and give Paypal the tracking info... Costs a few quid but you get the satisfaction that they dont get a scammed refund...
  • hi
just to update you all I have recieved the parcel back this morning.....
    address can't be found.
I have checked & double checked & the address on the parcel is the same as that on ebay/paypal.
The error must be due to royal mail in the area the parcel was going.
They have recieved other items in the last few days, i was checking their feedback last night.

Thanks for all your replies & advice

I suppose they sleep the same way as the person who thinks it is OK to falsely claim they sent an item when in fact they only sent an empty envelope which the buyer signs for.

The problem with lost items is whether people immediately think they are being scammed, or whether they believe the Royal mail capable of losing items. RM themselves claim they have losses and pay compensation, so I tend personally to blame RM. As I said in an earlier post if I really believed that all my buyers were out to scam me I would give up ebay tomorrow. As it is most buyers, and also most sellers are good genuine people.

This thread rather proves the point, the buyer was not lying when they said they had not received their item. Once again RM appear to have done something quite odd and messed it all up somewhere.

Sorry to be patronising... but have you checked it with your buyer? Have they left an old address in their account by mistake?

Have you checked the address on the Royal Mail website. If its a valid address there should be no reason why Royal Mail have not attemted delivery.

    You can check HERE

Presumably they will either confirm the address as correct and you will resend or they will say its the wrong address and they havnt upated eBay. In both case I think they should be footing the cost of re-posting the item.
  • i have had a reply from buyer stating that they still want the item but they want it sending to a different address, should i do this ?? or is it not a good idea...
  • If they paid by paypal it's a bad idea.

If you're willing to wait... I would ask them to pay again, including extra for the repeat postage you will have to pay.. via a method other than paypal. Tell them when they have paid you will refund their paypal payment.

If you send to an address other than the one shown on the paypal transaciotn, you are leaving yourself wide open to a chargeback... but if he pays by, say, a cheque, you are less at risk.
