Definition of a premium rate number?
Hi everyone,
Just a quick question. i have a Vodafone SIM only contract and I rang to speak to them today about something. While I was on, they said I had an international bar on my account (I was well aware of this and requested it remain) however the guy I spoke to said there was another bar on there that meant (his words) I couldnt ring banks, breakdown services etc, basically anywhere with an 08 number.
I asked how long it had been there and he said since the account was opened, and I said thats strange as I ring my bank fairly often from my mobile (0844 number) and have no problems. No, he says, you definitely cant ring these numbers. (It is clearly on my itemised bills as well!) When I worked at Orange the premium rate numbers were the old 0898 numbers (the 09 numbers now) so he claims hes lifted the bars (including the international one I didnt want lifted ) I'm going to have to ring back now and sort this out that I'm a little bit annoyed about, tbh, so I just wondered whether 08 numbers are classed as premium rate?
Thanks in advance xx

International and premium are the same bar at Voda, you can't split (or you couldn't when I was there, and your experience suggests this is still the case)
You're right though, it's only 09s that are covered by this bar, you would have been able to ring all the 08 numbers you wanted.0 -

Have you tried the saynoto0870 site to see if you can find an alternative geo number ? those 0844 numbers from your mobile will be costing you an arm and a leg.
