No one's mentioned the canon outlet on ebay yet! You should be able to pick up an EOS 450d with 18-55mm for £320-350 depending on how patient you are! An eos 1000d for between £280 and £300, although they seem less common. They come with a canon 12 month warranty.
For extra lenses have a look at http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/cat12.html for prices. This is the link for Sigma canon fit lenses and they can be a good cheaper alternative to Canon lenses but provides a quick way of getting an ideal of prices.0 -

I bought a Canon 5d from the outlet for around £500 cheaper than the cheapest shop I could find.
Had the camera 3 years now and had no troubles at all.
I'd use them again no problem.
Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
