Virgin Mobile charged 30p for what they claimed was free
I received this text from Virgin Mobile today:
"We've updated our mobile web prices so that you get even better value for money. To find out more, go to http://m.virginmedia.com/30p for free."
I don't use the Internet on my phone except for emergencies, as they charge 30p a day for its use. I only use it about 2-3 days a month. But as this was free, I decided to click on their link to read their web page. Later on, I checked my balance (on their website, using my desktop PC) and noticed they have charged me 30p! What cheats! I sent them a message asking for reimursement, so hopefully they will give me back the 30p. I don't mind paying 30p but it's the principle that I object to, and more importantly, what annoys me is that they will have ripped off all those people who can't be bothered to complain (or didn't realise they've been charged.)

Huh? You paid 30p for a free 30p?Thought for the day: each generation of mankind tends to hug the illusion of having reached the culmination of human achievement. Yet, as we scoff at our groping ancestors, so our descendants will surely scoff at us.

Nope OP paid 30p to read about the new charges .
Despite the word free in the message .
Virgin will by the end of the month drop the rather excessive charge for going over the data cap for the day .
Was charge up to 25mb 30p per day plus £2 for every MB over the cap .
Now its 30p per day up to 25MB plus a one of charge of £1.69 per day if you go over the daily allowance .
This immediately removes the fear of large excess data charges .
