    Hallo from sud Deutschland!

anyways, sounds like they used a nasty e-cheque thingy!, you have no choice other than to wait or to refund and ask for payment another way

e-cheques are for those that have no credit in the paypal account, or want to deffer payment from their bank a few days!!!

DO NOT POST untill the funds have cleared!!!!!
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Hello bleugh, what you doing there then?

I agree with what bleugh says, do not ship until funds clear. E mail your seller and tell them what is happening.

Just for future reference, you can opt not to allow e-cheque payments within your preferences in Paypal. This means you can will then only accept instant payments so you dont have to wait.

If someone trys to buy using an e-cheque it gets blocked so they invariably contact me and I ask for a cheque...therefore saving paypal fees!

kittykate, the buyer doesn't choose to send an echeque sometimes it just seems to happen. He will be as mystified as you, just be polite and explain you'll ship when funds clear.

  • kevinyork, how do you block an e-cheque?
the only slightly relevant option I found in the P***** preferences was:
    "Block Payments from users who:
Pay with eCheck for website and Smart Logo payments, or German bank transfer for all website payments except eBay"

Yup thats the one....not very well worded by Paypal but that is the option to block eChecks.
  • Not very well worded at all, I gave up trying to understand what that 'sentence' meant.
That's the option I had ticked, but a buyer still managed to pay me by e-cheque last week (or maybe the week before. It's taken so long to clear I've forgotten).

Ive had that option ticked for 6 months and all eChecks have been stopped.

The only way an eCheck will slip through is if the buyer sends payment to your email address using Paypal rather than paying via the link within eBay. I often get buyers saying something like 'ive bought this item and for some reason Paypal isnt letting me pay, can you let me have your email address'. Invariably this means they are trying to pay by eCheck so I advise them they cant and to use a card to fund the payment or send a cheque. I point out my terms of sale are payment within 5 days and therefore eChecks dont quite fulfill that criteria.

Ah, they probably did that then.
    Cheers.
