Metro Bank

Hi

Does anyone know if there are minimum/regular funding requirements for the Metro Bank current account? The debit card looks like a good one to have for travelling so I'm considering opening one (if I don't have to do this!)

Thanks

  • theres already a metro bank thread.
  • They didn't mention one when I opened my account. I don't remember seeing anything like that in terms and conditions which are available on their website as a PDF file I think.

Thanks - I couldn't see anything specific when I looked at their website and also the terms & conditions. I wasn't sure whether additional info was provided at the time of opening accounts (but apparently not!)

Are you required to set up direct debits/standing orders on the account? I just want it as a basic account so that I can use it when I travel.

What identification did they require from you? Vaguely thinking of going along (I'm in London most weeks) but hoping a driving licence plus credit/debit cards and a long-standing address would suffice.

My friend just opened one on a week day (Thu). Took about 1 hour.

    Need
    passport (one document for name)
bank statement x 2 (two documents for address)

and they will do a credit check as well

the deposited cheque took 4 working days (about...can't remember) to show up on the internet banking, and available for withdrawal

I don't need one, so not going to open yet.

No mention of it, I even said I wasn't going to move direct debit over immediately until I tried out internet banking (works, but a bit year 2000 / myspace), and seen how things work first. This wasn't a problem.

  • Thanks, but that leaves open a range of possibilities, and people here said they were asked for more than they expected. Just asked the OP for his/her personal experience. (And Metro can't spell 'licence')

    Thanks for confirming!

Neither can many people and organisations in the U.K. They also need to be advised that in this country it's a Driving Licence not a driver's license!:p
A bit sad I know but it's stuff like that makes them appear, to me, so unprofessional. If they can't get that right then what else will they get wrong?
