Car heating warm then going cold?

Morning All,
Thanks for the replies. the car is an 07 Seat Leon with climate control. The temperature setting is a digital display which I don't alter, when the cooler air starts coming through I just turn it off as it's too cool for comfort - I'd rather be a little bit cold than a lot cold from cold air blowing over me.
I'm not losing any coolant, there is more than enough in there - it is over the max line, is this bad?
Is the thermostat easy to find / order / replace? Or is it a deadlership / tame mechanic job?
Thanks!Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -

Tame mecanic job if you have to ask that question, only a few quid and a coolant top up
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

When my car did this (ford mondeo) it was the water pump that was knackered, no flow of water meant no hot water through the heater matrix hence cold air. Is the engine running hot?Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.0

So what temperature do you have the climate control set to?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
I always used to find the climate control is mine set to about 35 after my wife drove it.
Try setting it to "max", it'll never go cold hopefully.0 -
Normally I would have it set to about 20-22 but as it's been cold in the mornings it gets set to about 24-25 to warm up the car and then turned down once comfortably warm. But it's going cold befor I reach that point.
Tame mechanic jobbie it is then, service is coming up (tomorrow - now that I've checked my diary!) so will ask him to look at it.
If it had been a do-able job I would have done it - I'll have a go at most things if I have good, clear instructions and don't think I'll wreak something
Thanks everyone and I'll let you know the outcome after the weekend :beer:Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
OP set all controls to the minimum (in the morning) and once the car reaches operating temperature turn them all up to hot and see what happens.0

OK
Now think logically about this..... How the hell is doing that going to heat the car faster?
It heats at a constant rate, it gets to a temp and it shuts off the heat, turning it up to 25 isn't going to make it reach 20-22 any faster! It lets you set a temperature so that you never need to mess with it......
When cooking a meal do you preheat the oven to 300 degree's then turn it down to 180 before popping your oven chips inside??“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

OP, you have been given the obvious solutions. Doing what you intend to do by having your "tame mechanic" look at it will pinpoint the issue, :beer:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Afternoon All,
My tame mechanic dicovered that the airconditioning pipe (?!??) has a crack so that needs replacing.
He wasn't sure on the heating going cold issue, we ran ot of time so we'll look at it next time I'm there having the pipe replaced.
I will let him know your thoughts on here to see if that leads him anywhere.
Thanks for all you help

PS - I "know" having the temp up high then turning it down doesn't heat up the car any quicker but the air blast is warmer and it phsycologically I think it warms up quicker ... but thanks for reminding me!
