6 months back went on sim only £20 which is fine, I use email, but dont talk / text much
ANYWAY - its gone wrong, cannot use home button so as soon I select an applciation I am doomed...stuck!. Been to apple store and they asked me to reinstall facotry settings...that lost all my data and email etc etc BUT didnt solve it
They have had a look in store and said they cant repair BUT can upgrade me if I give them
£130 + the old iphone (which in fairness is cracked, and scratched and tatty!). They cant guarentee i will be put on iphone4 but will request it....

To be honest, I think £130 + your old phone means they are essentially giving you at least £290 for your old phone (£290 + £130 = £420 or the cost of an iPhone 3GS). I don't see you getting anything close to £290 by selling your phone privately. I'd bite their hand off for an offer like that!!In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0

I think that you may have misunderstood them. When I upgraded they offset £130 against the value of my iPhone 4 by taking my old 3G. Make sure you know, before you hand it over.0

Hi
They have confirmed its £130 + the old phone, BUT they cant guarentee the iphone will be a iphone 4, instead staing it has to be of an equivalent spec...the sales asst inferred it should be the new one, but its clear I have to accept it may not be....0 -
went back to shop to order it - I WILL GET A IPHONE 8GB (old model) if I go ahead...
think i got a more honest salesman today
VIEWS PLEASE

Thats not such a good deal....if your phone is worth say £120 in current nick, that means you are paying £250+ for a new iphone (old model) only 8g
depends what you want to do with it I think0 -
Yes, I used to have one of the old iPhones and the Home button problem is well known. Cheap and (relatively) straightforward repair.
Get it fixed and sell it.
Currently using an iPhone 4 for work and don't recommend it (dropping calls left right and centre). Got a Samsung Galaxy S for personal use and its a better piece of kit altogether (doesn't feel quite as solid, but does everything else better).0 -
I've got a new iPhone 4 and I would certainly NOT recommend getting one. My old 3G was great, but this new one has so many problems it's unbelievable. The signal is appalling (whether death-gripping or not) and now when I connect to my car via bluetooth the phone keeps ringing even when I've answered it. This happens to my wife's new iPhone 4 as well. STAY AWAY.0

Interesting. I have similar problems. Even in areas of very strong signal (cell mast visible!) the phone will sometimes drop calls. I don't think its anything to do with the RF side of the phone, I suspect some kind of bug in the software.
Mine also has an infuriating problem with the BT car kit. With an incoming call the car kit rings as it should, but if I pick up the call the phone audio doesn't switch to the car kit. Not had this problem with any other phone on the same car kit....
A bit more beta testing required on the iPhone4 I think....I suspect its been rushed out without being fully tested. I wouldn't be surprised it they don't issue a 'B Revision' soon!0 -

Glad to hear it's not just me with the hands-free issue. It's so frustrating, Apple appeared to have made the improvements that I certainly wanted (stronger and clearer screen, quicker, etc), but the problems that have surfaced weren't even present in my old 3G. I never thought I'd say it, but getting the new iPhone 4 might have been my biggest mobile purchasing error in over a decade...:(0 -
I've had the signal problem too without touching the phone. To be honest it's a joke. I posted on the "iPhone 4 Thread" but felt a bit out of my depth with some of the replies to be honest! But then again there have been about a million views of that thread!0
