Lloyds Amex Duo CC PPC Charges Questions

I wrote to Lloyds back in early 2009 saying that I notice that I am paying payment protection cover on my credit card account and asked
  1. What it was?
  2. Stated that I never requested this or had any idea that I had it and asked them explain why I had this
  3. How long I had been paying for this cover
  4. A breakdown of all charges paid for this cover?
They wrote back saying:

According to our record PPC was set up when this account was opened in Feb 2002 and are unable to obtain a copy of the original application and that the policy can be cancelled at any time.

In order to advise me of the breakdown of charges they would need to order copies of all the statements at a charge of £6 per statement, however, they only hold records for the past 6 years.

For various reasons at the time I didn't pursue this but now wish to get on with trying to reclaim these fees.

Clearly I am not going to pay £6 per statement – so should I send the SAR letter and £10 fee – will this tell me what PPC charges I have had for the pat 6 years?

Any advice on how to push this forward would be appreciated. Although having read what others have said about Lloyds, I might be wasting my time?

Thanks

    Hi There

Cancel the PPI if you do not want it. You can send a SAR to get copies of statements for £10 or you can just write to them and say how you felt it was mis sold etc and ask for it back. It is up to them to work this out and send you figures and back that up if necessary. They have 40 days to respond to a SAR and 8 weeks to respond to a case of mis selling. All the info you need is on the front page of this thread.

    Good luck

  • Hi there

I am awating a settlement figure from Lloyds TSB in respect of my Amex Duo card as they changed me over to this account from a normal Lloyds TSB visa account and that's when I noticed that PPC had been added to my account without my knowledge.

I went thru the FOS (ok it's taken over a year) and Lloyds agreed to settle.

I'm claiming for this and the previous card which I have held since mid 1990s. I would go for it as they did it to me and have accepted my complaint. I've been told to allow 8weeks and i'm hoping that I won't have to wait much as I accepted the settlement, without seeing the offer, circ 20 August.

Does anyone know if it tends to take up to 8 weeks>?

Go for it & Best of luck

Well done so far and I hope you get the money soon! You don't happen to have the correct address to write to do you?

There are reports on other threads that banks are writing back asking for more time. You can probably imagine that the banks are snowed under with claims at the moment so you may need to be patient. After 8 weeks you can, anyway, refer the complaint to the FOS but they too are snowed under so the choice is yours.

  • I have another question, at this stage I am just sending the SAR letter, can anyone confirm that this is the correct address:

DSAR Unit, Lloyds TSB, Customer Service Recovery, Charlton Place C57, Andover, SP10 1RE

Once I have the information, I then write a claim letter to:

    Lloyds PPI
    Customer Care
    Lloyds TSB Insurance
    Tredegar Park
    Newport
    South Wales
    NP10 8SB

    Thank you for helping me!

If you are using the template SAR letter, it contains a line which asks the recipient to pass the letter on to the appropriate person so the DSAR Unit address should be ok.

You don't have to wait to receive the SAR response to lodge your claim. The SAR only provides you with the information that they will use to calculate your refund if they accept your claim of mis-selling.

The SAR is only for information, the complaint can be lodged as soon as you want.

In case you need to email them once the reclaim have been sent:
    customer.care.insurance@lloydstsb.co.uk

  • Mini update - have received standard letter back saying, we are looking into your claim and will be in touch, in the meantime, please find enclosed claim procedures etc. So, I guess I am probably in for a long wait on this one, not even sure how much I would be owed, probably only a couple of hundred quid.

Will post again when I hear back from them re: my claim. I did write to them a year ago and they had no copy of the original agreement/application (and neither do we), so hopefully we will get somewhere as this was a cc offered in the branch as we were "loyal customers".

    Hiya

Thanks for your update and fingers crossed for you.

You can always ask them to send you a breakdown once you know where you are, good luck.;)

  • Hi there

We chased Lloyds a couple of weeks ago and they said that they needed a bit more time to respond to our complaint. However, since then I believe that all claims are now on hold.

Di - I think I noticed on someone elses thread that you advised them to move on to the FOS as the Lloyds have gone over their time period to respond - is that what I should do?

Thanks for your help, as always.
