Ooo we're back
I basically realised that I can't get my parents out of their financial home despite nearly five years trying. They are probably going to have to sell the house once I leave. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Why will they have to sell the house?Boiler pot £30.92/£10000

Evening all.
Claire, your place is nearly as cluttered as mine! I've decided I'm going to pack all the clutter up as if I'm moving house, then I can get a handyman in to put all the shelves up, furniture together etc, and then gradually get things put in place. Just need to put the plan into action... anyone want to run a book on what year that'll be?!
Beanie, I usually forget my underwear when I go swimming...
I've had a good day, well a couple of good days. I found a really good deal on cymbals and emptied my piggy banks to pay for them. I found out that the Italian GCSE is going to cost me £340 plus exam fee, as there's no concessions. So I'm going to do the 'community' Italian courses, and if I want I can get a private tutor, I could get about 20 hours one to one for the cost of the official course, and I'm sure it wont need that many to bump me up to exam standard. So I'm registering for that tomorrow, and for Russian tonight. Had a good meeting with my support worker, the charity stuff's going well, and all the OU stuff's fallen into place, including restarting the course I paused.
All of which gives me lots of excuses to feed my inner stationery junkie.
Oh, and I've got a shredder off freegle, so that should help the declutter. I'm sure I don't need to keep the paperwork for a car I sold over 3 years ago, never mind the rest of the stuff that's lurking!
Does anyone else realise they have a big expense coming up and panic, even though they've put money aside and it's all fine? Proof I guess that I let my bad financial situation go on for waaaaaaay too long.
Oh, and I'm starting Travel Training- so I can manage to use public transport without major panic attacks.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Theres less clutter now AmesBoiler pot £30.92/£10000

Gemmzie, if they won't help themselves, they don't deserve your help, as it's only getting you upset and down and you have your own future that you are working towards with your man.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500

Oh Claire you have made me feel very virtuous. I have just had a potential tenant round though so it's had to be fairly tidy. Have another one coming next Thursday but TBH I think this guy will take it. He's ex-army which has reassured me a bit, don't they have tidyness drilled into them?
I have also received my Career Development Loan - They have knocked £900 off (Barstewards!!!) because they think my food budget was too high (might have to revise the wine budget :rotfl:) and it included my credit card payments. Does this mean I don't need to pay them?:D
...and this means I have been able to confirm my room in the nice house with lots of storage space and room in the living room for my reading books and a Camra member living next door.
I am feeling much more settled. Just need to sort a part-time job now.

Gemmzie (((hugs))) I do know that you trying to help your parents has been an ongoing saga for the time I've posted on DFW.
Unfortunately, there is only so much that you can do to help and if they are not also willing to move forward and embrace their finances, then there is very little that you can do.
As hard as it will be, they will have to face up to the consequences of their own actions or inactions.
I hope I write for all of us on DFW chat in that we are here for you and will support you when you need to let of steam. :grouphug:
