Can someone tell me what is the difference between a DVI connection and a HDMI connection? My son wants a new telly, flat screen, HD ready so that he can play xbox360 games at the best resolution, and watch the telly. I assumed the only option was HDMI for the best picture, and as he wants a 17"/19" screen the only one we've seen with a HDMI connection under £400.00 is a Grundig at Curry's for £330.00.0

Hi - sorry for all the 'thanks' - I'm not with it - pressing all the wrong buttons! Haven't even had a drink yet - won't be long tho'.
Are LCD and plasma sets better than CRT(?) ones? I seem to remember when plasma screens first came out they were given a very short life by some 'experts'Ooh, I've gotta little star! What's that for then?!!0 -

DVI's for your PC and HDMI is for TV connections.0 -

Hi Annie, please read my post a few posts up. If you don't know what all the difference is between all these things, please don't rush out and spend loads of money. You may be badly disappointed.
The final decision I have come to is this: I'd still like a big lcd screen, but I will be watching SD output only, so the only way I'll be buying one is to go and view them in shops with an SD feed ie an ordinary arial or a DVD, not wit a special HD feed which I won't be using. Any of them will look great with an HD feed - but there is hardly ANY HD stuff being produced and won't be until after the great analogue switch off - and possibly not even then.
The great analogue switch off does NOT mean you need an lcd or plasma or even a HD ready set.0 -
I had a look at the Bush TV in Sainsburys yesterday. IMHO, it's OK for the money - the picture wasn't that great, however, that could have just been the setup in the store. Additionally, the styling wasn't to my taste - the whole thing had rounded corners.0

The Woolies LCD is a rebadged Thomson . Take the Techsonic label off the TV or the handset , Thomson underneath .0

Got mine from Woolies on Saturday and the picture is 10x better than my previous Hitachi TV. It may not be as good as the £1000 plasmas and LCD's but thats why its £399!
I got fed up with hanging on and on and on for this technology and that technology to drop in price. At £399 it'll do for me. Like most people i havent got a home cinema set up and for general watching of TV I think its fine. I watched the footie last night and didnt see any of the ghosting etc mentioned earlier?
As per a previous mail.... at £399 I can afford to upgrade sooner rather than later if required.I save so I can spend.0 -
I have bought Bush TV from Sainsburys and am very happy.
Would recommend!!:T0
