Freesat/Sky advice needed

Hi,

My building has recently had a communal satellite installed and I now have something not too dis-similar to this in my living room http://www.aerialsuperstore.co.uk/triax-304264-tv-fmdab-sat1-sat2-481-p.asp

My question is, would I be able to receive Freesat channels through this and if so, would it just be a case of buying a second-hand freesat box? Do they come with cables or does that require a trip to Maplin?! Not that techie minded when it comes to Freesat/Cable/Sky so any advice would be helpful! :o

The cable from the satellite dish is usually hanging out of the wall, and not plugged into it. It should have an F-Connector, which will screw onto your Freesat box's satellite input (make sure the core of the cable goes into the hole, and screw on). If there's no F-connector you'll need to goto Maplin, otherwise it's just a matter of SCART or HDMI leads etc.

There aren't any cables hanging out of the walls, just that box on my wall.

I'm having a look at freesat boxes on fleabay (are Pace a good make?) but just had a thought; how do I hook it up to my PVR so I can record stuff?!

At the moment my TV and PVR are connected by the one and only scart connection on my TV so it may well be a cabling nightmare for me!

I wasn't aware that Pace made " Freesat " receivers?

My mistake, was skimming ebay quickly and I just saw a Pace box for £19.99.

    Any recommendations?

Make sure what you're buying has the Freesat logo on it and isn't simply a free satellite receiver.
