Hi, Can anyone tell me how long it should take for an item to be sent Recorded Delivery?
It was posted on Monday and when I track and trace it it just says that it's being progressed through the RM network! It's my letter giving a months notice on this apartment and i'm worried that a delay in receiving the letter means that they will hold me to another weeks rent.
ARGH!!

Same time as normal 1st and 2nd class post takes. it goes with it all, the extra 75p only gets you a sig on delivery if the postie can be bothered to get it, has the right equipment, uploads their PDA to the system.
About 25% of recorded deliveries don't update online beyond the message you already have. Sad but true.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

They probably already have it. I doubt RM will update it any more. They rarely do.0

It may have been delivered without a signature - A lot of postmen don't bother knocking anymore because they don't have the time due to staff cuts.
You may have to wait until the time period is up and then pursue a claim for them not getting a signature.0 -
Recorded delivery items to a business address are also highly unlikely to be signed for and recorded due to the letter being inside a huge bag of other mail. It really is a pointless service.0

15 working days.
i know this because i'm chasing them up about a lost parcel which is still being processed through their system.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
I'm another poster full of doom and gloom about recorded. I never sign for it when it is dleivered to my home and virtually nothing i ever send by recorded gets past the 'it's in the sytem' status.
Also you have no claim at all for loss from RM as only tangible goods are covered, at best they will give you a book of stamps in lieu of refunding ther 74p recorded charge for failing to get a signature.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. but that shouldnt be the case
RD/SD/tracked items should be split out at the sorting stage
properly trained staff should be obtaining signitures either on paper or on the new (old tech!) PDAs0 -

I get RD items delivered to both my home address and work address - yesterday I got a RM card at home for a letter and yet got a pile of exam papers in the big bag at work unsigned for and the little strip not removed.
Luckily, and thankfully, despite the card saying to wait 48 hours to collect I was able to find out that the item is back at the SO and going for it today. It's for a gift.
Strangely, the RD item came after the regular delivery! I was expecting it and so waited at home for the postman, no item so went out, only to find it came later. Just a bit odd.0 -

I would expect large business drops to all be done via PDA now
so no need to remove any strips0
