  • still getting calls from this number. many times in one day.
They even started on my mobile.

I have now blocked them using the iphone feature, I suggest this to anyone else getting incessant calls form these scammers.
  • In my Voafone bill for October was a charge of £107.25 for one call made while I was abroad lasting 64 minutes and 5 secs made to a number that I did not recognise. I called the number which turned out to be a recorded message giving the opening times of Discover Finance, a company that was totally unknown to me. I complained to Vodafone that I could not possibly have made the call as I had never heard of the company and would certainly not know their telephone number. Vodafone said they would investigate the matter.
Vodafone did not get back to me and when I chased them some 4 weeks later they said the charge was my responsibility as I had made the call which I denied. I spoke several more times to Vodafone who would not budge and so I informed them that I would take the matter further particularly as I had researched the Internet and found many complaints regarding Discover Finance. I asked Vodafone what investigations they carried out e.g. had they called the number or had they researched the Internet? They said that for reasons of Data Protection (?) they had not and would not but suggested that I report the matter to the police! In other words, they had done nothing.
Then Vodafone called me again and offered me a 50% discount which I refused on the basis that it was unsatisfactory for Vodafone to try to settle the matter with cash instead of investigating the matter to protect their customers from what appears to be a scam.
Is it possible that Discover Finance could receive some of the proceeds of the call charge albeit that I have no idea how this call has ended up on my account?

  • Maybe I am lucky that they called on my mobile, so I had the opportunity to block the number. Which of course I have done. Should they text me I will forward it to SPAM (7726), an option surprisingly few people know about. It works a treat.
Don't know what I would do if they called on my landline since BT charges an arm and a leg for blocking numbers, something I think they should do for free like most mobile providers. - Any wonder we are deserting landlines for mobiles?
