Memorable Info re Saga Internet Account

I have just read a thread about a phising site re Lloyds login and it says that a bank would never ask for a full memorable word to be input into the log in process. On my Saga account when you log in it asks for user id,password, and memorable place/date/film/person depending on which the pc asks for the memorable word to be put in in full. This has worried me a bit having read this other thread. Could anyone re-assure me that this is the correct process for Saga accounts. Thank You

Yes, that's what the SAGA login page does.
Some sites just ask for some (random) characters but SAGA asks for the whole lot.
  • Thank you so much alanwsg, I think the post on that thread could worry a lot of people when it says that a bank will never ask for the whole of the memorable word. I was really worried.
  • Have just noticed the thread was started in 2008

Did you know that the Saga site now only accepts passwords of 10 characters or less. I have failed consistently to get into my account and was told this recently.

Its a pity they didn't inform depositers as its certainly caused me a great deal of inconvenience.
Take my advice at your peril.
  • No I didnt mike88, thankfully mine is less than that but they should have let everyone know this. Wonder why they have done that?I have recently discovered though that the password has to have a number/numbers in the middle not at the beginning or end, but my password has a number at the end and it works!

I was recently told this too. It seems they didn't realise it for a long time either and kept wondering why they had so many requests for access tokens due to people getting locked out after getting their password wrong. For a long time my password was more than 10 characters and mostly I got in OK. When I opened another internet account about three months ago I had trouble and was told then.
  • So I may eventually be locked out with my password as it has a number at the end! Oh well, we shall see. What a total pain!

I've just successfully logged into my Saga account using my 16 character password...

Yes, I had the same problem: 14 character password generated by password_safe which got me locked out.
Only found out when I phoned them up to get back in, the site really should enforce it rather than letting you set a password that can't work.
At least their helpline really was helpful, quite a rare thing nowadays.
  • I agree alanwsg, their help line is indeed "helpful" and it was a pleasure to talk to them when I needed help in re setting my memorable data. The call did not result in me feeling my problem had not been dealt with, and I felt reassured instead of stressed unlike "other providers customer service".
