unlocking t-mobile phone

My daughter has had her t-mobile pay as you go phone locked by her "friend". when switched on it comes up with a screen saying network lock and is prompting for a password !! Does anyone know how to get past this screen if password not known ?? haven't got much hair left to pull out !!

Need more info than that. What type of phone is it? Check to see if the simcard is in the phone properly and is your daughter's sim card.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
