Most affordable flight over Christmas

Hi

I was hoping someone could give me some advice about flights to SE Asia leaving after 17th December and returning first week of Jan 2011.

I'm completely flexible on my dates of departure / return and really don't mind where I go but the Philippines is top of my wish list.

When is the best time to book?

Are Christmas eve/day/ boxing day likely to be cheaper as fewer people are travelling?

Are there any particular destinations which as well served in SE asia and therefore plenty of air lines competing for business?

Any help is greatly received

You have left it very late for flights for Christmas, the problem is everyone wants to go to Oz, and most of the flights stop where you want to go. The cheapest flights I can find are now well over £1000 for a connecting flight to Manila within the timescales you are looking for. Singapore and Hong Kong are the obvious points to start a journey but they are also the busiest points for connecting flights to Australia which are booked 9 months in advance, I can find no really cheap flights at all Air Asia X which flies from Stansted to Kuala Lumpur is sometimes cheap with connections all around S E Asia but remember you pay extra for luggage food and entertainment and 12 hours is a long time to fly. They have a flight out on 18/12 returning 8/1 but it is £772 without any of the extras. I hope someone else can find better!

I know a couple of years ago that flying on Christmas Day was a lot cheaper than the days around it but it looks like the airlines might have stopped this now. It must have been getting popular.

I wouldn't go to the Philippines. Not safe.
