You win :D Smokeless here 'only' costs £11.55 for Taybrite, or £12.65 for Homefire Ovals. But of course there is a minimum order of £50, so really a minimum outlay of £69.30 for 6 bags of Taybrite and £50.60 for the 4 bags of ovals. Fine if you can find storage.

found a winter coat in the charity shop yesterday for £6. not exactly what i was hoping for and i look huge in it but it will keep me warm so i guess thats all that matters. its really misarable here and i am guessing it wont get much better now. Kids back to school soon and then i will make sure everything else is in place for the really cold weather. Oh and i got my gas and elec bill. Owed on 1 and they owed me on other. Gave them propper readings and now they owe me £11 ish for elec and £89 ish for gas. Glad it is this much as its a little less pressure when i need to put heating on. Plus i have another few payments before winter really arrives and we need the heating on regulary (i hope!)

I thought that sounded cheap, and I was right! I've just checked our local coal merchant and a 25kg bag costs £10.15. However the minimum order is £50 and as they can only be ordered in 2 bag multiples it actually means the minimum you can order is £60.90 for 6 bags! It's £1 cheaper per 50kg if you have an open bag poured into a coal bunker.

I'm ordering my coal tomorrow, price quoted £260 for 1 tonne delivered as I need in 50kg bags tipped into coal bunker so £5.20/20kg.

This is 'B' grade house coal.

    Afternoon All,
My Craghopper lined trousers arrived about 10 mins ago and although they are wide enough for me :), they are about 6" too long :o... however, I HAVE looked at the hems and know that I will be able to alter them easily enough :j and I will be VERY warm and cosy (they are SO soft inside) whenever I wear them :D
Thankyou to the kind person who suggested them on here, you are an :A!

Popped into tesco this morning they had cans 600ml prestone deicer for 75p reduced from £3, I know last year I paid through the roof for one can of this so I picked up 5 today lol and got some funny looks from the cashier hehe!
Also got silver foil type car windscreen sunshade reduced to £2.30 thought this would do for covering my car windscreen during any snow/ frost etc..

Also does anyone have a list of a winter car kit
I have some ideas; water, torch, snack bars, blanket but could do with some more essentials incase I get stuck anywhere???

    thanks

    thanks

Extras for the car - old squares of carpet for a grip under tyres, a shovel, waterproofs, wellies with a pair of thick socks stored inside, extra batteries for the torch and an in-car charger for your mobile phone. I'm sure others can think of more :)
