Thank you to every one who posts on this thread - I am now armed with a very full list which I need to work my way through in next couple of months.

I plan to buy a huge bag of "pony" carrots from a wholesalers (I actually used to think they were specially for ponies :rotfl:I now know that it is because of the irregular shapes :D) I am going to have limited space to store fresh items but I do have 2 freezers ... Can anyone recommend a way to freeze fresh vegetables as I can often get these on offer. I was thinking of either blanching them - freezing them on a tray before freezing or could I freeze them raw ready to add to stews, casseroles and the likes?

Oh and my family and friends also think I am mad for stocking up ... but my mum is seeing the light and changing her ways to my ways :)

:) Hello Busybee, you will need to blanch them but any freezer book can give you the times; its easy and quick. You might wants to prep carrots in one or two different techniques; perhaps sliced into discs for stews or cut into strips for steaming as a veg to be eaten in its own right.

I was pumping up my bike tyres yesterday and noticed that the rear one (the loadbearing tyre) is rather worn so I will add that to my to-do list. Bike is shamefully feelthy so may see about taking it to a pressure washer on a garage forecourt; does anyone think they'd object if I paid to use one on a bike not a car? I was thinking of choosing a very quiet time of the week to avoid being a nuisance.

Grey-Queen I have seen all sorts being washed at the power washers, motorbikes, push bikes, boats and even a caravan! If you pay then they are not complaining!

If anybody wants a wind up torch / radio for an emergency kit, Tesco are selling them for £3 (order online, collect instore).

They have good reviews, will run on batteries (but you can wind in an emergency if you run out of batteries) and for £3 I don't suppose you can go wrong!

Dash it I'm going to do our main bedroom curtains. I didn't think I would but I am going to do them. All the others have been done and it is only our bedroom that has not, so I shall rope the OH in to help me get them down tomorrow as they are in a bay window and there are also curtains on the outside with a vallance as well so that will be a big job! Add that to the list! :(

ive powerwashed the seats in the car before while they were still inside the car..and drove it home.. got some strange looks but hell at £2 and using my vax to suck the water up saved me about £50 on a full valet..

  • Thank you GreyQueen, that actually was my intent to slice for casseroles and stews and long slices to eat as a veg alone.

I know there are a lot of freezer threads on here so I am going to have a browse whilst DH is at work ... My next idea is what can I make in tray bake style and freeze :) I figured the good habits will stick and i'll be prepared for winter and my new bundle in January.

The wind has really picked up tonight, my DH said he needs to tie wrap our fencing so the strong winds don't blow the panels out especially as the pets spend a lot of time in the garden :)

My list has really grown after catching up at dinner time - I am starting to panic that I have taken on too much since we only haave a few precious months left of this year
