I've started knitting a jumper. First time I've knitted in years. I'm enjoying it. ALso there are so many heavily discounted sales on at the moment. Most high street stores seem to be discounting. Grab it while you can.0

Another winter related plan for me this weekend is to clear out one of my kitchen cupboards to make a better store/pantry. OK, so this will be beneficial all year round, but I feel so much more comfortable knowing it's there if I can't get out for any reason.

Today I have shortened curtains in the LR so that when they are pulled together they will sit between the rad and the wall - saves us heating the window and not getting any warmth in the room!
Its cold here now [Milton Keynes] so cardy and socks are on
I have also ordered new boot slippers from Sh@eZ@ne as they are fairly cheap and they have free delivery too [and you can pay via Paypal]
Will be checking out places for 2 hot water bottle covers - may even knit a couple if I can work out how to do it - new to knitting

Winter can wait!
Off on my holibobs tomorrow, 2 weeks in cornwall. Then when we come back I will happily start rehanging winter curtains and looking forward to Christmas. But let it wait for a little while.Donna
Economy; careful management; providence. Whether you call it thrifty or frugality it all comes down to getting more for your money.0 -
Helen when my lot (in all 7 of them) were little we used to put one of their jumpers on the hot water bottle or a spare sweatshirt they liked it cos it kept hotty warm as well as them i've even put a pj top on them used to have to fill kettle twice just to do the hwb for bed then would do one for baby as well just to warm the space (or she'd wake up )before putting her down she's 14 now and if i make a hwb now still put one of her tops on it what ever is to hand usually just so not direct heat hope that helps i can knit just not focused enough to do big items usually baby stuff like dungarees and jumpers with fariyle (sp)patterns its not too bad once you get going even used leftover wool for dolls clothes too after all it is money saving even back then2nd purse challenge no040£0 Sealed pot challenge ???? £2 trolley find not counting small coins till end year0

Funnily enough, i've just started knitting a long chunky jacket and really enjoying it. Knitting makes me sit down for a while as usually when i sit i am fidgetting about and have to do something.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Muffin man - thanks for the tip - think I'll do that with the hotties - love that name for the HWB

an old fluffy cushion cover or pillow case would make a nice cover for a hot water bottle too. Wonder if a knitted cover would work as well? Mine all came with covers luckily, the £1shop used to sell the bottle and then the cover so £2 for both and they are full size too.
Been really busy this week so not got much done, hoping to learn how to use my sewing machine properly and finish my patchwork quilt.
Noticed a few cracks around my double glazing, not in the frame or glazing but in the window box and some old holes from old wires run in from outside. Going to fill them with caulk and hopefully should helpMummy of a beautiful little boy and fanatical about christmas:xmassmile:snow_laug:santa2:
