When we were out the other day my 11yr old daughter saw a "slanket" and declared loudly - why waste money on a blanket with arms in - just put your robe on backwards!

Out of the mouth of babes eh!

    Hi all,

New here but am addicted to all of your tips.
After reading your posts I have decided to buy a dehumidifier.
Have found one on Very which seems good. It has quite good reviews and seems to have a bigger tank than some of the others mentioned - 4.2 litres.

Am not allowed to post links but it's easy enough to find on their site. It's the white one that costs £99.

Also they have a buy now pay later offer on at the mo. No need to pay til next September. Just make sure you pay before it's due or they hit you with huge interest.

Plus you can get 8% cashback from quidco and an extra £15 off if you are a new customer.

    Hope this helps someone.

That does sound good. Wish I'd seen it sooner!
I've never heard of Very before. Are they reliable?

Do your outside walls go mouldy?
It's that time of year again - I just found the first new patch of mould under our bedroom window, behind the curtain. Time to get out the bleach spray - but no matter how much mould we've had on and around the windows the curtains have never actually gone mouldy.
Fleece is thicker though. Might make a difference.

Yes the outside walls do go mouldy, well not moudly but kind of furry! The blind we have up at the moment has gone moudly, so I am presuming that a fleece attached to the inside is going to be worse??

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this, or whether I am just going to have to experiment.

Very is part of the shop direct group who own Littlewoods, Great Universal, etc :) Yep they are reliable but you have to be very careful (excuse the pun) when using codes that havent been issued to you as there are some horror stories, ill try and find the link :)

    :eek:Hi Sylvan
my flat is currently just heated in the sitting room when it's chilly (fan heater the heating boiler is broke), so i'm guessing the bed room temperature (south facing, but on a windy corner) is maybe slightly above outside about 15 degrees maybe? i know the advice on the dehumidifier was not to run it at under 5 degrees (but hoping it won't get that cold inside the house  ) it fills up in about a day and a half if i have washing drier (which is constant as we seem to have a permenant rain cloud over us :( )

Last winter, we were cut off for weeks at a time, with some of the deepest snow in Scotland. Luckily we had stockpiled, but there were times it was a close thing, when the coal and peat ran out, for example, and the coal lorry couldn`t get through to us as the road was closed. This year we`re stocking up and taking that into account, I`m also buying a paraffin heater as paraffin is fairly cheap, just in case.
