Santander Call Line Rant

I can't believe how poor their telephone hotline is, I was losing my hair over simply wanting to know how much money I have in my savings account
- Simple I thought!
Firstly, it would be fantastic if I could look at my account online... but that’s another rant:rotfl:
Regardless of my attempts to reach a human, I failed nearly every time:(
I kept getting asked for 8 or 16 digits of my card( Which I don't have) or an 8 digit customer reference( What is this and gave no explanation of where to find it) Therefore leading my with no choice but to make them up:p
However it never worked as it asked for more numbers then said it wasn't correct, so got back to square one. Not once did it ask to put me through with an advisor
However after 15 minutes of trying lots of different routes to find a human, I got there:j However phone line was busy so had to wait another 5 minutes
I can't believe how much hassle they make it and wonder how many people give up on their phone line. Even for new customers, they were asking for customer numbers ect- But they wouldn't have them if they were new?:rotfl: Way to put off future customers

I had the same problem once when I had to deal with Santander to close an account. The automated voice kept asking me for my number, in the end in frustration I screamed at the phone "I dont have a card and number" and slammed the phone down!0

The 8 digit customer reference is the Customer ID number you use for Internet Banking. Took me a while to work that one out as well.
No thanks to the ever helpful people at WeDon'tCare. For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.

When you do get through they're idiots who can't actually do anything without referring you to another department, who will say you're in the wrong place and ask you to call back on the same number you started on.0

I'd love to have my account online, then it would save calling them! However this account can't be online:mad: So therefore don't have an 8 digit number ID"No likey no need to hit thanks button!":pHowever its always nice to be thanked if you feel mine and other people's posts here offer great advice:D So hit the button if you likey:rotfl:0 -
Did they not issue an 8 digit Customer ID for your telephone banking service?
If the answer is no, I will pretend to be surprised.:)For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.

Keep pressing zero on your phone and you get straight through. They send me stuff in the post which since I have no accounts with them leads me to believe they have made a mess of closing the accounts. They wont send me a letter to confirm account is closed.I have a deep burning indifference0

ignore it 3 times and it connects u0

Move your money, they are a joke.
Have just moved bank accounts after being with them for over 22 years, I think they were a BS when I first opened the account and its gradually got worse although it appears to have accelerated since Santander took them over. Most of the issues I've encountered relate to the new systems and the requirements of those systems.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True
