    Just had an e-mail, and phonecall, from a CS rep at mobiles.co.uk providing full details with regards to the return of the handset and the requisite returns number etc. It may sound a bit melodramatic but I'm so relieved;
    Good result ...fingers crossed for you ;)

  • I must have the golden touch. I rarely call any dealer but had occasion to call Mobiles very recently. Got through in less than 5 seconds and the problem was sorted straight away - actually hadn't expected a positive outcome and it was (sort of) necessary because of a silly "mistake" by them in the first place. Or maybe they realise that I'm an awkward customer!

    Mine seems to have progressed too - my problem is that I sent the phone but got no confirmation they received it, or cancellation of Orange contract.

    I got through to customer services by going for option 4 on the 01923 804444 number. These email addresses might also help anyone in the same situation
    jkane@mobiles.co.uk - rep who sometimes responds on MSE boards; Returns@mobiles.co.uk; cpwcares@cpwplc.com (got a real response from the latter same working day).

    Yep!

    And not so far that I couldn't keep a beady eye on what's happening, so what I lost out on with sunshine I made up with my action!

    As a follow-up to my situation, I should mention that I received a call from mobile.co.uk's MSE forum rep last night as I'd e-mailed them prior to being able to get in touch with someone through the normal channels. They'd noted that I'd already been sorted but were getting in touch anyway to check things were all okay so that was appreciated.

    Now that the dust has settled I am beginning to wonder if perhaps my situation was something of a storm in a teacup as whilst at the time it seemed like I was doomed - and reading numerous threads on here only compounded this - I now realise that once I'd actually got to talk to someone they were extremely helpful. In fact, they were more helpful than I had expected given the circumstances. Also, I only received my phone on Monday and, at the time of writing, it should be virtually back in their hands so looking at the beginning-to-end timeframe it's not looking so bad afterall.

    Of course, the recorded message on the phoneline saying that the office is closed really didn't help, and I was starting to wonder if anyone was actually working there, but it seems like there may have been some reorganisation/restructuring yet the support sytems (or at the least the return dept's phonelines) weren't similarly changed. I should also recognise that if I'm going to be stuck on hold it does make it easier to accept given they do at least use a geographic number (a position-in-queue announcement would be even better if anyone from there is reading this!).

    I won't start another debate about them here as there is more than enough elsewhere on the forum, not to mention my sample size is 1, however suffice to say I would likely be back to purhase my next phone from them... once I've determined in no uncertain terms what my reception is going to be like!

    Thanks again to everyone for the advice - your quick responses were appreciated.

  • Having a similar problem myself, cant get hold of anyone, returns section still says they're closed :(
  • Why not try another option on the menu and ask them to sort it out or transfer (without ending up with the same message!?
