Hey, i haven´t read all the thread to know if this has been asked and answered. I know you can re-enter the US upto 2 years after being granted the ESTA, i have applied for a transit flight i took in Feb this year, but now am coming back to the US to New York in a couple of days and do not know what to do?

I know i have an ESTA that is valid, but how do i re-inform them when and where I am coming back into the country or is it sufficient to just fill in an entrance form when going through Costa Rica Migration? Do i need to re-inform at all? How do i go about doing it? Do i need anything else before i go to New York for my visit?

Heeelp, its all so confusing for me especially with rubbish internet cafes.

You don't need to do anything - not even a form (other than the customs baggage form if you are given one). You can go on line and update the US contact address details but it's not mandatory. Do make sure you have them to hand though - exact street address.

Hi all, new to posting forums so please bear with me.
I have read through the ESTA thread and cannot find an answer.
as the charge for the ESTA is in dollars is it ok to pay for with a FairFX money card which is the card I plan to use in the USA later in the year ?

Thanks to a tip on MSE, I received my ESTA free last year. The application process was painless and I was approved in 24 hours.

The ESTA guidance article was useful as I wanted to check the expiry date - good to find out that I still have a year to go.

The MSE tip was to apply for the ESTA before 8 September last year while it was still free. It now costs $14.
  • Hi,

I am traveling to the USA in September and my flight back departs on 10 October and my ESTA is valid until 14 October.

Is anyone aware if I might have a problem with the expiry date being so close to my departure date?

I only ask because if (it is not) my passport expired on 14 October the USA immigration people would question the validity of my passport.

    Thanks in advance

Your ESTA just has to be valid on the day you arrive in the USA. Ater that it doesn't matter.

If it was your passport you wouldn't have any problems either - instead of the normal 90 days you'd just get admitted until 14 October.
  • OH, well that'll teach me! Thanks
  • ESTA is valid for a two year period. Within that two years you can travel out and in to the USA. All you need to do is log into your ESTA application and amend your flight details with flight numbers and dates. Simple

You don't even have to do that - it's not required to provide specific details of each trip. Maybe it will be at some point, but not now.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
