Excuse my ignorance - but what does it do differently from a pot when cooking the rice?
Its a plug in thing
You add the rice and the water and turn it on and it cooks the rice for you and turns to warm when its done. (Almost) foolproof rice cooking- the big ones are used by all my chinese, fillipino and indian neighbours0 -
Oh I think I may have to get one of these - are they easy to clean afterwards?0

Thanks, I think I've been convinced - do you think it will be easy to hide from my OH so he doesn't tell me off for buying another gadget?0

Look at him confused and say 'you didn't know we had a rice cooker? Next you will be saying that you haven't noticed my new hair cut!' Rotfl0 -
I should say, I bought this very rice cooker from Argos five years ago and it's still going strong to this day.
Cookworks is Argos's cheapo made-in-China own brand. Which, for a rice cooker, is absolutely fine. What I mean is, I've seen European brand rice cookers, such as Tefal and Delonghi, and frankly they're crap. My aunty says it's because Europeans don't know how to make rice like the Chinese do, but I don't believe her.0 -
I bought this one the last time it was reduced to £9.99 & love it. You get perfect rice every time, wouldn't be without it........... :beer:What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0

Hi I also have the cookworks one that I paid £9.99 for a few months ago - I think its brilliant, I used to have to buy those microwave packet rice, as I just can't cook it normally - it just turns to mush. I would say it one of the best 'gadgets' I've ever bought, and it get used all the time. (I find if it gets a bit dry on the bottom, I just add a bit more water whilst its keeping warm. :-)0
