Connaught is the company I work for which has gone into Administration today but has been having major financial problems for the last 2 weeks or so in the run up to the Administration announcement.0

Yep, that's me.0 -
Oh right
So, did you sign digitally? Just find it weird they'd ask you to sign twice.0 -
Seems odd, but plausable that you got declined due to administration. I suppose the cooling off period may work both ways... Not sure though."A bank* is a place where they lend you an umbrella in fair weather and ask for it back when it begins to rain."
(*Unless it's Santander. The branch says they sent you an umbrella 3 times already and don't understand why you don't have it yet and want it back right now!!!)0 -

No, I only signed the paper copy which came through the post.0 -
Oh OK. So seems like they did additional checks once they'd received it.
So, you didn't apply online then?
Sorry for all the questions0 -
Call them and ask why it happened.
It won't go down on your credit report. It will show up as a search, but no one will know you've been declined.
Well they'll figure it out eventually when they don't see a Credit account with Barclaycard on his profile.
They could assume it was approved and he didn't go for it, but if he is still applying for Credit...0 -

Well, like with Halifax, they may have been using the signature to run the actual checks...
Halifax also "approve" applications in the same way, but nothing is certain or concrete until you get the card, once they do the checks after your signature.
But that's not their normal procedural policy.0 -

Is there some sort of credit monitoring police that you're aware of that I'm not?0
