I asked for my PAC a few weeks ago, and yesterday recieved a letter with the PAC code, and sorry you are thinking about leaving etc etc. It contained a phone number to ring in which they claim they will 'do our best to find you an even better deal'

So I ring the number and get offered the bog standard shop tariffs. An Htc legend for 2 years on 600 minutes 300 texts messages etc etc for £35 a month. I point this out the guy gets all defensive and says he'll make an offer that only stands for that phone call....he'll take it down to £30 for the first 21 months!!!!!!!

I asked if there was anything they could do on a 12 month contract, as I know people who got the legend on 1 year contact. I got a curt 'we don't do 12 month contracts'

When pointed out that I had previous been offered the samsung galaxy s for £25 a month, which was a better phone and a cheaper deal, he got very rude saying something like 'Well, it was you who phoned me, and you didn't ask about that phone' in a really quite aggressive manner

I was quite shocked by his rudeness. I was not rude, i just pointed out I didn't think it was a good offer.

I certainly felt there was no point in continuing the conservation, so finished by saying that we were obvious not going to reach an agreement, so would ring back. he cut me off mid sentence.

I can't believe that a person who's job it is to keep customers from leaving would be so rude. Why would I now want to hand over my hard earned cash for 18-24 months to a company whose staff are so rude to me?

Time to actually use the pac code I think

rant over! That feels better!

  • Sometimes it's good to rant and I agree; voda should look at their staff very closely.

O2 staff at least have the courtesy to apologise for the fact that they can't offer you anything better as an existing customer, but Voda just aren't interested. To be honest, they should spend less on sponsoring Lewis Hamilton and more on getting their customer service right.
In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move.

  • I had a similar experience with Orange a couple of weeks ago. Phoned up to say my contract was ending and I was thinking about leaving, looking for the best deal possible. Got through to a thoroughly rude woman who after offering me contract which was more expensive than the one I was currently on (!) hung up on me when I said I wasn't interested in that deal. Always being one to complain I phoned Orange straight back and expressed my disgust in their customer service (had the girls name and extension number) and got offered a new handset, unlimited texts, calls and internet for £12.50 a month. Decided to stay with them as I thought this was a good deal and the fact that the second person I had spoken to was actually very good at their job. Always complain if you ain't happy with the service.

    Hi Kai,

Yep, sounds about right... My experience of Vodafone is that they will make something sound amazing over the phone to you when trying to keep your custom but as soon as you start to ask them questions or point out that actually... there deals iant so hot as they are saying it is... they don't like it.

Now obviously if you get all uppity with them then don't expect to get 5 star treatment in return but it doesn't sound like you did so...

I suspect they figured you weren't interested and wanted to end the call as soon as because they have their team leader hovering over their shoulder pointing at a board with stats on it showing their call qouta was due to fail it's 'business agreed' levels...

Sorry, got me ranting now! LOL.

My advice, steer clear of 'em.

I think the thing that annoyed me the most was him trying to pass off a standard offer as some fantastic deal, and then remove an insultingly small amount claiming it's an even more amazing offer, that was available throughout that phone call only.

Do they think people don't go into the stores, and look at their web site when making these so called offers to people

That appears to be exactly what they think. Although you may be surprised at the number of people who don't come to places like MSE and just accept the first deal they're given or do very little haggling and only get a few extra text messages which they'll never use thrown in.

There's no excuse for rudeness though, especially if you're supposed to be trying to keep a customer. I've been on the receiving end of plenty of poor customer service from Vodafone Customer Services who in my experience just seem to hang up if they don't understand or agree with you.

The trick with them and upgrades seems to be to wait until the outgoing retentions team calls you. If you call them, you may give the impression you really would like to stay, if you wait for them, they're doing the chasing and need to come up with something outstanding.
