Why not consider ESA(IB) as an alternative. You will find that the same support is there.

Eh? You can't claim ESA if you're fit for and looking for work.

I am a little confused. According to this thread you work? Have you both been out of work for two years, and what has happened to the work you claim to do?

No, this all happened quite a while ago but was still bothering me so I came on for peoples' opinions.

I have not worked for 18 mths now, not due to lack of effort on my part but I feel that my previous medical history and extended time off from work plus my age count against me. I am also still being treated for depression and anxiety and high blood pressure and I dont think that helps either. Previous to this, I had worked constantly since I was 17 years of age and am now in my fifties.

However, I came on to ask a simple question about what happens when JSA and help with mortgage interest ceases and dont really want to get into a debate about employment on this thread.

If any experts out there can answer my query I would be very grateful.

The thread in question was last week, and posted in the present tense.

The simple answer is, once your SMI finishes you will need to find an alternative (non governmental) means of paying your mortgage or sell your property.
    Gone ... or have I?

For heaven's sake, I know when it was posted as I posted it! and yes, I know it was posted in the present tense but I have explained why, not that I should have to justify it to anyone. I don't know why it bothers you so much.

Thank you for the info re the mortgage interest.

Because, taking your post at face value, it sounds like you are scamming the system. If you are not, that is great. If you are, be under no doubt that you will be found out eventually.

Good luck with finding a job!

I can assure you that I am NOT scamming the system and get just as angry about people doing so as you obviously do. I have worked all my life up until this spell of unemployment and am proud of it. However, having re-read my post and not knowing me I can somewhat understand how you might have jumped to that conclusion.
