1p finds at Tesco thread

omg that is fantastic, I was about to traipse around those stores! So thank you :T
But I can confirm that I nabbed 4 jars of caperberries some days ago from the Skipton store, and now there are none.

Will be trying Bradford Valley Road tomorrow, unless anyone has been there first?!

Putting caperberries through till with other shopping, SA asks for them back

ME - I know they are 1p that's the price they scan at?
SA - I will have to call a Team Leader

SA - these caperberries scan at 1p
TL - that's not right, they shouldn't be that price
ME - they went through the till at 1p, what price are you going to make them?
TL - well....they shouldn't be on sale
ME - they are on the shelves, in a box for sale???
TL - right, let them go through this time and I'll go and remove them from the shelf.

Why Tesco could you just not NOT quibble with your customers? All he had to do was wave them through and go and remove them from the shelf without having me to witness a bliddy pantomime!!! :mad::mad:

I have to say I take my 1p finds through the self service tills it is less stressful and the staff are less likely to cotton on to what we are doing .

My first adventure into the realms of 1p items.

I found the Dormens Xmas nuts which have expiry date for today, picked up two packets.

Grovelling around on the floor through the colmans cheese sauce packets I found some in the middle marked Luxury, picked up three but noticed they have the same barcode as those which don't say luxury, they have exp dec 11.

I went to my usual nice lady who always takes my coupons (thats why I'm not naming the store) and loves it when we find a bargain, I asked to scan the nuts & cheese sauce which indeed came up as 1p. I thought she was going to fall of her chair in a panic, she said she had to call the supervisor as if she had put them through as 1p she would be called into the office.

The supervisor said she had to go and ask someone else when she came back she said it was okay to put them through. I asked my nice cashier if I should have gone through self service she said it would have been queried.

Interesting. The colmens cheese sauces have the same code as the luxury ones? I am definitely checking this out. Will report later!!!

Went to Tesco Litherland today and nothing - no SEL's either. I did find some McCoys 15 pack of crisps and asked the SA to check the price as someone posted that they were scanning at £1. The SA said "ask me again and say please and I will" - I was amazed - I asked nicely - just said "could you scan these for me to see how much they are?" - I HATE Tescos!

That's a lie, I go through the self service tills on purpose when I have 1p items because they don't check! Yes there is a monitor at the end of the self service section which is for the person on duty to check as it lists items as they go through. But they're so busy fixing bagging area problems and alcohol sales and ID checks they're never at that bloody screen lol.
