Just to point out that these aren't capers; the pickled buds of the caper bush, they are the berries of that bush, and in my view taste quite different.

At 1p a jar though they are definitely worth trying ;)
    thanks, didnt realise the difference!
    will try though :-)

Well that was unsuccessful, not a single 1p item. Is it only bigger stores that seem to have them?

I think the expectation should be that you will be very lucky to find 1p items. They are quite rare to find.

If something is listed as being 1p on here it's worth checking the price whatever the label says.

I found an RTC item but it was still scanning at £1.50. One to keep an eye on in future perhaps : Alpen Fruit & Nut Cereal Bar

Looks like the redirection service is playing silly beggars so will revert to the actual URL, apologies - it's just a pain because it changes if I upload an updated doc.

well thanks to all that contribute on this thread, and special thanks to thepearce for the spreadsheet!
Also thanks to nuttyginger for the tip for looking on top of the shelves as I managed to find some tomatoes with chilli! :D
I nearly had a heart attack when the self service helper came over to ask if he wanted me to enter them in so I didn't have to scan them all, and then tell me did I know they were only 1p!
In my excitement I picked up the wrong size caperberries and the Adzuki beans scanned at full price, but still happy with my tomatoes!
This thread has helped with the sadness of the end of DTD and made my Mr T shopping still a little bit exciting! Sad aren't I! :o

Na, your feelings are identical to those of myself and most posters to this thread.

I agree with the comment about it being quite rare to find the 1p items - Yes lots of people get lucky but I personally wouldn't do a special trip

I just take a list with me IF I need some other items from Tesco's and hope for the best

My nearest one is a bus ride away anyway so not worth it if I don't need anything

( My last trip I found ONE 1p item = The Gu cookies but not sure if they are still 1p??? )
  • I must be a minority who didn't ever bother with DTD and simply looked out for the best bargains before I did my shopping - Am happy with that really as to be honest Asda **** up my home delivery orders so often that I get lots of refunds / so free items and free delivery as an apology!!! lol
