  • no 1p bargains no playmobil stuff scanning at 1p :(
    but did get OH a Dr scholl hard skin and callus remover £1.02!(the type with a handle and a cheese grater bit at the end) these are almost £4 at boots :)
  • Newton Abbot Tesco's today. Found the only jars of Garners Pickled Shallots squirrelled away, almost out of reach, at the top of a rack - an unopened pack of 6 with the correct serial number - thought I'd hit the jackpot, but they rang up as £2.46 so sadly they all went back. Rather annoyed as I do like those shallots :-(
    I generally don't shop in Tesco's in Newton Abbot as it's so poor it makes Asda look classy - badly lit, poorly laid out, and they don't even seem to serve a range of store-baked bread - it reminds me of the grimmer days of supermarkets in the UK.

    This is my 'local' (in a Torquinian!) too and afraid I beat you to the shallots...I already found them at full price!! Im keeping a beady eye on a section down the hair isle..they have lots of different items on a couple of shelves with stars on the SELs and that can only mean one thing... ;)
    £20k in 2023 = £2718 £2023 in 2023 = £196.41 Grocery challenge £250= £195.80 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**

    Ocean Spray Smooth Cranberry Sauce 350g jar, SEL reduced to 49p going through for 1p. Barcode 5000214 009276.

    Better bargain than the cranberry and redcurrant the other week as that was a smaller jar!

    Please forgive my stupidity but what does 'SEL' stand for? I thought it was an abbreviation for 'Self Service Checkout' but having read more posts on this thread, that phrase doesn't fit in context.

    Found nothing of interest in Royston at the weekend, but the shelf prices stated the packs of bacon at £2 each were... yes, 2 for £4, and others at £3 each were 2 for £6! Seriously?

    And currants, 500g for £1.00 but a 1kg pack for over £2.20. Barmy.

    SEL = shelf edge label

    :jCan anyone tell me if the barcode reader app is of any use for finding these 1p deals?

    If so many more people could either use their phone or iPod touch to find these offers when the scanners in store are busy or not convenient

    Also does anyone know where you can get these apps for other sorts of phones and which ones?

    Can you tell i know nothing about phones? DOH!

    I think people have just been using the Tesco app for smart phones.you just beep it as if you are buying it and it tells you the price. Unsure if it will be accurate as to all the 1p bargains though.

    (Dunno if this will help also; http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10427233-233.html )
  • Tesco Hamilton, in Leicester, have recently taken down and removed ALL the bar code/price checker units throughout the store.
    For those wanting a bargain, they have Andrex 9's on a bogof. If you take this up, select the Andrex '12 for the price of 9' bags. You'll finish up with an extra 6 rolls for nothing.
