Bad idea if you ask me. Just because a number of idiots choose to crash their cars late at night doesn't mean that everyone else is magically at more risk then.

It is actually More Th<n that has anounced the scheme rather than NU (NU are the ones with the PAYG offering instead)

It doesnt mean that everyone else is magically more at risk it means that 1) you are not the sort that trashes vehicles at night and 2) a parked vehicle is less likely to be hit by one of the idiots that do choose to trash their cars at night, esp if you park it in a garage/ driveway

I suppose its a good idea for a second car that you know will not get used at night, but what about those late night shopping visits/picking people up for airports/parties etc or needing to get to a family emergency - I am not sure it would be worth the savings.

It is only for the under 25 market and gives you 40% off your bill.

I doubt this age group do much of the airport runs or collecting others from parties etc and if you do have to break the curfew for a family emergency it is a £25 fee/ fine/ additional premium so should be outweighed by the discount for at least a couple of times

It doesn't mean that either. All it means is that you've agreed not to drive the vehicle at night regardless of what risk you are.

  • Regardless of what discount you may get through this scheme, make sure you check it against more 'traditional' insurance packages - you're quite likely to find that the normal route is every bit as cheap.

  • I would agree that normal insurance policies could easily be just as cheap.

A few years ago I was involved in an accident 1 month into my insurance policy. As a result I had zero no claims when it was time to renew. One insurer very generously offered a 25% no claims discount as the claim was almost a year ago, but the starting price was almost double what I was being quoted elsewhere.

Got to say though when I was younger a 40% discount for not driving after 11pm would have been very appealing, growing up in a rural area we had to have a "designated driver" when we went to the pub, would have been great never having to be the designated driver.
