I've been trying to find an email address to BBC breakfast news. How anyone at the BBC thinks this is a story worthy of a headline is beyond me. So a stupid mother leaves her son to play on the PC unsupervised and he manages to naviagate two complete screens and buy an item

No doubt the mother knows people may well pay her for interviews, and she'll probably do the rounds of the Women's magazines telling her amusing story. Meanwhile the poor seller is stuck with fees, a no sale and a wasted week.

These 'sorry my son, my cat or my dead aunt bid' stories irritate me.

Oh, and to add insult to injury both the mother and the BBC keep warning users that they should log out of ebay and other sites when they have finished browsing. It's hardly rocket science is it?

Sorry rant over, I just keep thinking of that poor seller.

i agree. common sense dropping by the day!! some people should not have kids!
  • Isn't this a very common happening according to the stupid tales people come up with everyday when they change their mind about bidding.

It really is pathetic that this made the news & the BBC wasn't the only one. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/25092006/140/boy-3-buys-9-000-car-internet.html

I do wonder whether it some sort of advertising scam as it's the 1st time the garage has sold on EBAY or am I just bad minded?

Actually nickinoo that is a good thought, this could be a clever marketing ploy in which case I will try harder to find contact details for BBC and complain.

Either the mother was already browsing the car and had the screen open or we are to believe that a three year old does a search for a car, goe sinto the auction page, chooses to Bin and confirm it...rather unlikely and hardly accidental as is being claimed.

Therefore we are left with the fact that th emother was already on the car page..which leaves the boy only two or three pages to navigate to purchase..

I reckon this is an advert and I'm going to go and find the auction and take a closer look.

If it is an advert it certainly seems to be working.

Anyway it's nice to have some light hearted 'news' to go along side all the death, attacks & politics.

    worto.
  • I agree with you Soo, it made me very cross this morning watching it on the news.

However, I'm sure the seller will now obtain a higher price for his much publicised car. I can see the listing title now!!

Good luck, I spent ages looking for it without success. I'm beginning to doubt the original story as well.

Hmm, like you I cannot see this car having been sold in the past 30 days either.

    Curiouser and curiouser.

I have emailed BBC twice, once as a comment and once as a complaint that I don't pay my license fee and then expect to then see adverts.

    Soo

EDIT. I can find the new listing I think , which seems to indicate this is a scam story as why wait 30 days and only then relist and release the story to the press?

  • I totally agree with you Soolin. The fact that it was a marketing ploy was the first thing that entered my head.
