Is iPhone 3GS charger cable covered under warrenty?

I bought iPhone 3GS 7 months ago from O2. Now the charger cable has a cut near the USB end and the metal wire inside is exposed. Does Apple's warrenty cover this damage?

Thanks
Vikram

Yes I had my 3GS cable replaced under warranty after about 5 months. I went to the Manchester Apple Store but they didn't have any instore, however, the assistant told me to use the repair centre on the Apple website. I think I had to provide credit card details just in case it was not covered but they sent out a new cable plus packaging to send back my old one and I was not charged anything. I was quite impressed by the service.

Thanks for the info. I will try if I can get a replacement.

Yes, you should be covered for a year. Go onto the Apple site, go on support and click the crossed tools icon.
  • I tried that, but the website gives a warning saying the company (Apple) will determine if the damage is covered by warrenty or not. If they decide that its not, then I have to pay £10. I am not sure if I should go ahead with this. So I am thinking of going to a store so that they take a look at the damaged product in my presence.

    thanks for all the help.

Yes, that's what happened when I requested a replacement but all was fine and I was not charged. Sounds like your fault is exactly the same as mine was.

No need to waste time on warranty for this. There are plenty on ebay for next to nothing.

Exactly £1.25 delivered, and it was delivered the next day.
