    HELP.
This has nothing to do with the subject of this thread, but I have been trying to post a screen shot into a message for someone to see.
My question is: How did you post this picture here?
Your answer just might help me post my screen shot picture.

Google for imageshack (there are lots of picture hosting sites but its the one I use and you can use it without registration. Upload your image to that site and it will provide you with different codes for that image. Use the forum code, copy and come back to your post and paste it in. You will see the code but when you submit or preview the image will appear.

Click the "insert image icon" insertimage.gif and paste the url of the image into the box - ie in Internet Explorer right-click on the image and under properties copy the url of the image and past the address
  • Couple of options. Neither will be terribly cheap.

Crane the cherry picker over the terrace of houses.

Get access to the roof from the front and go over the roof using rope access.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
  • This thread is a great advert for the Cherry picker company, so far its pictured 3 times already.......:D

Hi All , thanks for your replies .. we have a side gate , but the probably wont be able to get the cherry picker around there due to our neighbours totally blocking up the access way ;-)

ive just had a roofer come round to give me a quote ( £280 ) .. and to see if he might be able to complete the job any other way ..and he reckons its easy , all he needs is access to my neighbours garden and he will be able to replace the whole length of guttering ... he said he just creates a walkway ... ??

obviously he was quite vague on the details as this is how he manages to secure such work easily .. anyone have any ideas what contraption he could be using ?

If I'm right and he can place a ladder resting on the facing wall at each end of your conservatory, he will place a cripple ( engineered contraption for ladders ) on each ladder then place a walking board across the span of your roof resting on these cripples which then gives access to your guttering. Used to be used all the time in the trade until health and safety got involved. Quite safe if they know what they are doing and you are prepared to risk it.

Something else to bear in mind, how old is your house. If the guttering is the old cast iron stuff it's going to be awful heavy when it's loosened. If it falls when they try to move it, you may end up needing a new conservatory.

This has superceded the old cripple and meets Health and Safety regs.

Got it spot on, it's a cripple with safety bars, when I did the job I was sensible enough not to step back. And to think I worked at four storey height with that. Plus with no out riggers, health and safety would have earnt their money in that era.
