Internet/Line rental without a 12 month contract?

Does such a thing exist? I can't find anything about it.

I'm moving into a little flat for my last year at University, but will only be there about 7 months. I have no need for a 12 month contract!

If you know of a company that does it, or a company that doesnt charge through the roof if I cancel early, please post!

Thanks. It's not clear though if the line rental is also part of the "no contract" option.

Edit: Spoke to a rep on plusnet's website chat - the home phone is a rolling 30-day contract, so this is ideal!

Take a look at o2, they have now just released their new broadband options which include 30 days contract too.
  • If you're not that fussed about a landline (contract mobile users with good reception and plenty of minutes) consider mobile broadband via a USB dongle. Most of the main mobile providers do these - some on a 30-day basis.

Post office landlines are pretty good. I had a post office landline for three months and their connection charge is also cheaper than BT. You could take this up with them for £12 a month and then find a cheap 30 day BB supplier.

There are plenty of 30 day broadband contracts, what you haven't said is whether the property already has an active BT line? It's getting a line rental contract of less than 12m that is more challenging, because if you left after a month they'd have to recover the OR install/reconnection cost-which usually means an upfront connection charge of some sort.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Virgin do a 9 Month contract for students
