Is Travelodge in trouble?

It seems to be a bit of a leap to suggest that as they had no milk in one hotel the whole chain is in trouble. As a paying guest and if milk is a part of the service Travel Lodge offer then you should have got the manager instead of letting their problem become yours!"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Businesses tend to have very strict rules about suppliers. For example, my work's canteen has a single supplier and contractually they're not allowed to get supplies from anywhere else. If they don't order enough milk that's the end of it. No milk. They can't pop to the shops and buy some. They have to wait for the next delivery. Perhaps Travelodge is similar."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Nobody seems to be allowing for the possibility that the receptionist was simply being flippant, tongue in cheek or simply repeating an in-joke in an inappropriate moment.
I was once went through the tills at a work canteen and reached for a napkin, which had been moved closer to the tills than they had previously been. The cashier stopped me saying, "I have to give them out now. That is the law."
I assumed that this was tongue in cheek, I certainly didn't expect that the allocations of napkins in work canteens had been part of the Parliamentary agenda that year (or that the colleague in question was 'a bit thick'!)0 -
Yeah, still not received the email I sent myselfSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
My wife and I stayed at a Travelodge in July and after a 3 hour car journey we were looking forward to a cuppa (one of the few things that Travelodge do still offer in their rooms!!) We were to be disappointed as we were told at check-in that the hotel had no milk as "Travelodge's budgets had run out". I asked if the company was going 'bust' but was assured this was not the case. I wanted to know as we sometimes book roooms well in advance when staying near to family and did not want to risk losing advance payments.
When we returned home I contacted Travelodge about the Receptionist's comments regarding budgets and was e-mailed a reply saying that the matter would be investigated and I would be advised of the outcome. This has not happened and two further e-mails have produced standard issue responses.
It would appear that Travelodge's Customer Service budget has also run out!! Can anyone shed any light on their situation?
Nice one, you don't get out much do you. Some poor receptionist gives you a bit of dumb info, so instead of researching it you go straight to head office as you didnt get any milk in your room.
Instant result - she gets a disciplinary and you get to feel smug and satisfied that you have investigated a serious incident of "no milk for your coffee".
You could of course have walked across to the shop and bought some, nah its much easier and less time consuming to email head office.0 -
Granda here, original poster.
I admit the post was a bit tongue in cheek. It was my first post on any forum (and my last!!). I am surprised that it triggered some of the responses it did.
Please post no more responses. If I could find a way to remove it, I would.
