Iphone while abroad....First time

Going away on friday for a week and it'll be my first time abroad taking an iphone. Heard all the horror stories about bills for data useage and just wondered is there a way to stop this from happening to me (apart from the obvious and not taking it!!)

I switched off my cellular data which meant i could only access the internet via wifi

    its on settings/general/network
  • If you don't need it, don't take it. That's the safest option it seems...

I'd say it's best to get a LOCAL payg sim as it means you are not paying rip off "roamed" rates. It would be very annoying having a smart phone abroad and being limited to surfing on the hotel's wifi.

If you do take a uk payg sim then T-mobile seems to be the best. For 10 pounds you get 50mb internet i n EU valid for a month.I used it for one week no problems this year in Bulgaria and it lasted all week of checking e-mails/facebook updates and general web browsing.Just make sure it is topped up with at least 10 pounds before you go & when abroad when you go on internet, you will be directed to page asking if you want to buy a eurobooster data package. You cannot use the net in EU without purchasing one.
