Non flexible/transferable hotel booking - premier inn.

Can anyone help me with this problem? my family and I were due to stay at Manchester flight terminal Premier Inn this Thursday however we will no longer be needing the booking as our flight company has gone bust. Premier Inn say that we cannot cancel or transfer our booking as we have booked an offer (premier inn £29 offer) and ticked the terms and conditions for that booking which I completely understand. We don't want to travel over 2 hours to manchester to stay in a flight terminal but would be happy with transfering the booking to somewhere else. As it stands £87 will be taken out of our account for a room which we will not be using. They will not even consider transfering the booking to another hotel and just keep answering me with 'well you ticked the terms and conditions'. My travel insurance will not cover this as it does not cover in situations where a company has gone bust and ATOL will only cover the flights aspect. Any ideas anyone? Thanks:o

so its £29 if you book in and £87 if you don't?
thats bizarre.......
i live by manchester airport, you could hire me to pretend to be you for an evening and we could split the difference......lol
sureley that £29 will be covering that room for that night whether you are actually in it or not? sounds like a moneymakign scheme to me.
unless this isnt what the post meant at all and i've got ti wrong , which ahs been known to happensaving for more holidays0 -
i was thinking they must have booked 3 rooms (3 x £29) maybe? don't understand why their insurance won't cover them.0

Oter option would be to go there, pay , stay the night then ask for your money back in the morning. They do offer a good night guarantee, do they?0

Hi all, thanks for replies.
We booked 3 rooms @ £29, insurance won't cover us due to flight company going bust and this is the reason we won't be staying there - manchester airport is over 2 hours away from us so not really an option just to go there for no reason lol also would have to drag the whole family there as rooms are booked under different names but all being paid for from my account!!!
Seems a bit of a scam to me as I have said to them I am happy not to have a refund and to transfer the booking to somewhere closer instead but they are having none of it. seems a bit unfair0 -
Just transfer to someone elses name if you have someone in mind, tell them to be "you" and tell them to pay cash for anything. They take the booking form, surely it's prepaid if it's non refundable? Mine always have been anyway, and you don't normally add a card on there for "extras" I raelly can't see them kicking up a stink on the day- no odds to them whether it's you or Joe Bloggs staying there. Just be careful who you "give" it to as it'd be your neck on the line if the room gets trashed.0

Why is it a "scam"? You paid a cheap rate for the rooms with those terms and conditions. You could have paid more for a refundable rate.0

If you pay cash in a Premier Inn you need ID, so they will know you're not the person who's supposed to have the room.
Also payment it is on arrival, it is not prepaid, but they will charge the card if you cancel the booking or don't arrive.
If you decide to cancel the you will be paying roughly about £75 cancellation charge, if you do not cancel and do not turn up then you will be charged £87.00.
Unfortunately for you , you have accepted the Terms and condition when you've booked the rooms...0 -
I was very fortunate in that I booked the Hilton at Manchester Airport and my flight was cancelled due to the Volcanic Ash problem. I knew that I had a booking 2 rooms which could not be cancelled. Due to the unusual circumstances of the Ash I called just to ask if they would refund the rooms which they very kindly did.
I was delighted but knew that they were quite within their right to keep my money.
In fact I almost didn't make the call.

You can't transfer a 'special offer' deal to a different hotel.
"No cancellations, amendments or refunds can be made. Offer is available at selected Premier Inns only and is subject to availability. Please check alternative dates if your selected date is not available."
I would of thought if you could find someone to take the rooms - premier inn probs wouldn't mind changing the name? I couldn't see that as an issue?0
