I don't know if it's changed my life but it has helped me save a bit of money. I was already a money saver before I joined and had got myself out of deep debt. Most of the time I find myself giving out advice on these boards rather than taking it.
I'm not anything like what I post on here. I'm always extatically happy all the time and smiling most of the time. I think I come here to vent and then go off all relaxed and happy again.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
This site has the power to change everyone's way of thinking - if they are open to it. I applaud Martin for what he has done; for the freedom of speech it has given him and, ergo, the inspiration to people at all points in their journey to financial freedom (whatever that means to them)0

I'm sure the site has changed many lives, I know I'm a lot more aware of all those unsecured loan ads and the ease with which you can get into trouble with debt. I'm pretty good with money, but you can always learn something new - and I'm picking up great tips to pass on to my (17-month old) daughter. I like your take on "the banks are the enemy" - it's a change of mindset that could change lives.
And who can forget this life that was changed-

How do you manage that BS? Wish I could any tips?:rotfl:
This site has changed my life too I don't do so much housework:rotfl:
Seriously it's my first port of call every day and I'm definitely wiser about money matters. The are are great people here and it's better than the newspapers for staying up to date.:money: :beer:Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

This probably would require its own thread, but.......
I have taken control of my finances for the first time in my life! (I am 40). Prior to this, my wife did all the money juggling and saving. When she would suggest that we pay a bit extra off the mortgage each month, I would panic, thinking "Where will I find an extra x pounds".
Since discovering MSE, I have taken out a low rate loan to pay my car finance. All my CC debt is on a low 'term of balance' rate and i am overpaying each month to get rid of it quicker. I have done the sums and can see that it is possible to have our mortgage paid off in 10 years. this is something I am now striving for.
This site has made me realise all of this AND the benefits of a slow cooker!!!
Thank you.:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
Just wanted to say congratulations. You have changed the lives of so many and well done for sticking to your principles. The reason the site works is because you are impartial and recommend what is best based on research and don't take advertising/bribes. Also the fantastic community that has grown up around the website.Making my money go further with MSE :j

For me this site is alot more than just moneysaving, i have learnt alot and have had discussions and conversations with people that in 'real life' i probably would never talk to, I'm a mum so dont get to go out much and i spend my spare time mainly on here.
I've learnt some things which have really helped me - the main thing was THIS THREAD on Narcisisstic personality disorder, which made me realise that i needent feel guilty anymore.:o
I've learnt how to budget my money and got some great recipies, have made money (in vouchers) Got lots of free stuff, have made some friends, got support when i really needed it and havent bought a razor for a while now!:rotfl:
I wouldnt say this site has saved my life but it's cerainly helped me in a few other ways.
Thank you Martin Lewis!!:T :j  :A

I know that you believe that this site has helped, but the secret is within you
and you hold the key.It allows you to share your feelings in a secret way,and talking helps ,and there is always some-one to listen, and share a secret with you,it might be practical ,how you can save money ,but it might be emotional, and suddenly you realise that you are not on your own.The opportunity to have a purpose because of mental stimulation, which allows you to achieve if only to buy cheaper food, then allows you to have more money which gives you further opportunities.
We are all a product of our life's,some are lucky, just make the best of what you got,and the people on this site can do that for you ,their ideas give you powerTo be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -
This site has definitely helped me hone my thriftiness! I have a permanent 'student-mentality' to money anyway (i.e. why have caviar when you could have beans?!), but am alo interested in ethical issues and admit that money saving is hard when you also want to save the environment! I've picked up some great tips and am proud to reccommend the site to any of my friends because I know Martin has integrity. Thanks for your help, Martin!0
