Incorrect name on BA flight booking

An hour ago I booked a BA flight to Venice in January. Unfortunately, I have missed out the space in my surname, Des Forges. I usually check the names and dates very carefully, but I have been very careless this time! Will BA let me on the flight without any questions, or will I have to pay a fee? The call center is shut.

Thanks.

It might depend on the staff at check in, i can't see it being a major problem but it could be. I was had tickets booked for me by an employer a few years ago and they spelt my first name wrong, i noticed this as soon as my tickets arrived. I called the airline and was told it should be alright provided that the name was correct eg if i was called John Smith, Jon Smith would be ok. I was a bit dubious as i had heard a horror story of a friend who had to pay loads to have a name changed on a ticket because it was spelt incorrectly.

I would say that you're likely to be ok, my passport for some reason has a hyphen between my first and middle name, not sure why as it isn't like this on my birth certificate and my parents didn't name me this way. I guess it was probably an error by some admin worker when my first ever passport was issued and my parents just didn't bother to send it back to have it corrected. I never put the hyphen in when i book tickets or holidays and i've never had a problem. It would be worth ringing BA just to check though just to be on the safe side.

Phew, just got off the phone and was told that for ticketing purposes there are no spaces in surnames. So I will be fine.

I would just add, airline systems cannot handle hyphens in surnames.
