Level 1
Vacuum floors and sofas
Wash nets/curtains/other soft furnishings that are grotty.. do we need winter curtains up yet?
Level 2
Dusting, even if around everything
Vacuum under furniture you can manage to move without hurting yourself
Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe
Level 3
Clear fire surround of gibble!
Put all hotspots into a pile/box and sort through it all while having a cuppa.
Tidy shoes, coats and bags .. wash any that need washing. See if there are any that don't fit, past their best or just plain uncomfy which could leave the house! Who needs new coats/boots for winter?
Extras
- Paperwork clearance.. spend 15 minutes minimum sorting through those piles of paper.
- Make sure lightbulbs are working and smoke alarms!!!!
- Clean a window or two.
- Defluff behind radiators.. has anyone tried those heat reflective things for behind radiators? Are they good for energy saving?
These are big scary lists this week!

- Defluff behind radiators.. has anyone tried those heat reflective things for behind radiators? Are they good for energy saving? Yes, they do work - my last job involved knowing about energy saving
. You need to put them behind radiators that are on outside walls. Radiators on inside walls need to have dark paint behind them so that the heat is absorbed into the fabric of the building...
This is a really good site for energy saving ideas - have a look at the section on maximising radiator efficiency.
