Unfortunately they are usually pretty expensive to buy specially, like jam jars! We tend to save up suitable bottles through the year. If you have an 'oil and vinegar' shop near you, they sell the type of bottles you want, though again they aren't particularly cheap. I think they also sell online...
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
  • thanks so much for your help - whilst searching for the ascott site I came across this site which may be of use to others, fairly reasonable prices for bottles and jars!

Thanks, they're probably a bit too small (but might use them for wedding favours!), i found some that were 125ml which would be ideal but postage was more than the bottles!!

My local pub does mini wine bottles (17.5cl?)- I've soaked off the labels so I can't tell you what it's called I'm afraid :( but I was saving my friends' bottles so had 4 for my fruit gin but the landlord offered me a whole bag and told me to come in any time if I needed any more as they throw so many way.

They are clear or green with a black top (I think the name fox may be involved but not sure) and I thought it would be nice to make presents of two or three flavours in small bottles rather than one larger bottle.

    Obviously sterilise them well
  • Sainsburys have the mini wine bottles, last time i was in they
were 3 for £5- suppose it depends how many you will need and
if you like the wine :D

Asda have bottles of white wine vinegar (250ml) for about 79p. a heck of a lot cheaper than buying the bottles online. You do need to give them a good clean with hot soapy water and bicarb of soda to get rid of the smell, but thats what I'm using for my Sloe Gin

    Hi lisa,

I use minature (25 cl) wine bottles and ask friends and family to save any they have for me.

These threads may give you some more ideas:

    Pretty bottles

Looking for decorative bottles for sloe gin.

where can I buy "beer" sized wine bottles?

I'll merge your thread with those later to keep the ideas together.

And there is a rough and ready appeal to providing jam jars of hooch.....sort of the Jazz era vibe, if that floats your boat, where you could tie parcel labels around the lid in string and call it Lisa's Speakeasy Sloeshine, or something of that ilk.

(A Louisiana Jam is a cocktail in the same style, if you don't believe me!)
