02 :(

Been with 02 on a pay as you go for years. Thought, I would change it to simplicity and keep my phone number. How, wrong could I of been.
Went into the 02 shop on Friday morning and filled out the direct debit form and the guy cancelled my pay as you go sim and said do I want to keep my number so I did. He said it would take approx 15/20 mins to connect. "WRONG". Went back to see him in the afternoon and he said gosh it usually only takes minutes. Give it till tomorrow and it will be on by then 'WRONG'. Went back into 02 on Saturday afternoon because my phone still said, unrecognized sim. So, told him to cancel the direct debit and put me onto a pay as you go one with the same number. 'WRONG'. today I am sat here with a phone thats not worked since Friday.
02 only work Monday to Thursday nothing gets registered Friday,Saturday,Sunday. So, buyer beware!!!!!

    The old lady has just moved from their original WAP PAYG deal to Simplicity, all done in one phone call (last Sunday) and active by midday on Monday (less than 24 hours) - so I can only guess you had the misfortune to deal with a numpty.
    Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.
  • Like I said, only work Monday to Thursday...I am that angry with the whole thing that I will be using up what credit I have then moving to an other provider... thats if the sim ever works.
    Also, I have a contract phone with them and it finishes end of October and I will not be renewing that so, there loss.
    You wouldnt think something so easy would become something so complicated

    I can tell you it does work over the weekend, it is all automated, although this weekend there has been a failure of some pay and go to contract migrations over this weekend. The team however that force through failed migrations only work Monday to Friday so cannot process them.

  • Had to do a quick update.., my pay as you go sim card is still saying un registered sim. Went into the 02 shop on Monday morning and cancelled the simplicity again and told the guy that the sim card that was in still had not registered he phoned through and gave them the details again. But, unfortunately today 24 hrs later still no phone use. This has been going on since Friday and when I can get into town I will be changing provider and having my phone unlocked.
    I also, have to say on my emails I received a bill from 02 regarding the simplicity which I never used. WELL MAD!!
    I have a contract phone with them as well, which is due for re-new in October but, as you may guess I will not be doing so.

    You must have been very unlucky. Went with a friend to upgrade from payg to simplicity. Sorted the direct debit, gave her a new sim, half an hour later it was up and running. Same with my mum's payg, my aunty's too.

    Although I do agree, o2 customer service is useless. If you have a problem, it takes an age to get someone competent enough to sort it out.

  • Pinky, go back into the shop and ask to see the manager. Tell them all the issues you've had and ask them to personally sort the issue out.

    The very least they can do is give you a PAYG sim with a tenner on it so you can make some calls and send some texts!!
